So for those of you who have never heard of the “Hairy Bikers” don’t panic, they are not members of a clandestine cycling club or groupies for ZZ Top (showing my age now!) They are in fact the amazing duo who have recently shone the spotlight on the North East.
With an 8 part series focussing on all things spectacular in the North East I was hooked; squeezing in watching between travelling from the South to the North, back again and then to Bahrain. Having been able to recently visit many of the places in the series; including Bamburgh Castle, North Shields and Northumberland I could literally taste and small the glorious food they were cooking.
Smell-O-Vision.....if only it were real....
The last episode featured The Big River Bakery as social enterprise bringing affordable, healthy food to locals in Shieldfield in Newcastle. As well as helping people get back to work; and offering a Monday and Tuesday – “pay what you can” policy. A social enterprise set up with the help of crowd funding and making the “best stotties ever”.
We are in total agreement - the North East is one spectacular place.....
